Mandelic Acid
It is an alpha-hydroxy acid derived from bitter almonds. Its main indication is to perform a peeling that acts without causing burning and redness. The immediacy of the result in terms of brightness and cleanliness of the skin surface completes the positive picture. The skin exfoliation is progressive, easily hidden by the hydration of a cream.
For this reason it is defined as "the peeling for all seasons", for the treatment of the most common skin blemishes such as photo-aging, irregular pigmentation, acne and small wrinkles.
In particular, mandelic acid has depigmenting and antibiotic properties, making it a product of choice in the treatment of non-cystic inflammatory acne and even in post-operative treatments in the case of laser resurfacing to prevent the onset of infections.
Thanks to its chemical/physical properties, mandelic acid treatments are called “summer peels”, because unlike other alpha-hydroxy acids it is not photo-sensitizing.
Used in combination with other more drastic chemical peels, it offers the advantage of decreasing the skin repair times, enhances the depigmenting power of other peels and accelerates the action time (with the risk of slight erythema).
